Kwabena is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of encoord GmbH. He has a Ph.D. in Energy Systems from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, a Master of Science (Dipl.-Ing.) in Mechanical Engineering and a Master in Business Administration (Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing.) both awarded by RWTH Aachen University, Germany.
He is a winner of the Springorum Medal, which is awarded by RWTH Aachen University to students who graduated with distinction. He is also a former scholar of the Evangelisches Studienwerk e.V. Villigst, one of 13 organisations sponsoring highly talented students in Germany.
Before co-founding encoord, he worked for over two years as a software consultant and gas pipeline system engineer for Liwacom GmbH, in Essen, Germany, where he trained and consulted several Gas Transmission and Distribution System Operators as well as national Gas System Regulators on topics related to the planning and operation of natural gas pipeline networks using mathematical models and software applications.
Before working for Liwacom, he was employed for three years by the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC), Directorate C for Energy, Transport and Climate, in Petten, the Netherlands, as a scientific researcher to conduct research in the area of security of energy supply in integrated natural gas and electricity transmission networks.
Kwabena is an expert in energy systems modelling and software development. He is the developer of the energy systems integration software SAInt, which he developed in the framework of his doctoral dissertation. He has published and presented several peer reviewed articles at high level international conferences and in scientific journals. He is a Co-Guest-Editor of the Special Issue "Computational Analysis of Natural Gas Supply Chains" of the international open access journal Energies.
