Kevin is writing his master thesis in collaboration with encoord GmbH on the topic of the coupling between district heating networks and the electrical power grid.
Kevin has earned a Master in Energy Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain. After completion of his thesis he will have a Master in Sustainable Energy Technology from the Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands. He originally earned a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Electrical and Energy Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, USA.
Before his master’s studies and collaboration with encoord, he worked for several years in a variety of industries, including R&D, teaching, and software.
After his Bachelor studies and an engineering internship with BMW in Munich, Germany, he returned to Colorado and worked in R&D for American Recreation Products, Inc, where he eventually developed concepts leading to two patent applications. He then took a leap outside of engineering and went to South Korea to work as an English Teacher for a year. Afterwards he returned to Colorado and worked as a programmer doing software test automation with the consulting firm Cardinal Peak, LLC. After two years in the software industry he decided to return to academia to earn his master’s and focus on sustainable energy engineering.
